(February 12, 2018) – SoCal-based metal/hardcore outfit Twitching Tongues will put the rubber to the concrete this March on a freshly announced havoc-wreaking overhaul of a tour with Hatebreed, Crowbar, and The Acacia Strain. The tour- which sees the band trekking cross-country for 10 days- is a precursor to their U.S. headlining tour.
The extensive touring is in support of the band’s forthcoming LP Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred– an album that features a rather focused brand of belligerent balzacian bitterness.
Or, at least, that’s what their current single, “Harakiri” has to offer thus far:
The title for the band’s fourth full-length album is directly inspired from a quote by working-class-centered social philosopher (dubbed a “longshoreman philosopher”) Eric Hoffer:
“Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life.”
As such, Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred is an open-sourced point of honesty to the band’s writing approach for the record: paying homage to those who have shown them support while simultaneously hawkishly responding to their detractors. “Failure” purveys in abundance as a core theme that drives vocalist Colin Young’s lyrics. However, the album’s lyrical content features his first foray into politics in tandem, motivated by our tumultuous contemporary political climate. Inspired in part by filmscores, Gaining Purpose… features a pervasive ‘epic’ storyline of soundscape, all the while paired with their immediacy and headstrong quality of aggressive musicality. The end result is a newfound approach to previous melodic offerings that can be found in the band’s 2013 album In Love There Is No Law.
